Tres got in a fight at the dog walk the other day. Another male, about his size. First it came bounding at us to say hello (very welcome), then it bounded over to him and (I think) tried to get him to play. He doesn't dig that. He's big on personal space. The other dog was in his bubble.
So it lasted about 5 seconds, during which there was a lot of snarling and biting and jockying for position. Luckily the other dog was very hairy too so I don't think any of the bites really landed.
The other dog's owner screamed and threw her hands in the air, while C grabbed Tres and I grabbed the other dog and we pulled them apart.
C walked Tres off by the collar (for show) and the other lady went on her way with her dogs.
After we let him loose again Tres roamed a bit then trotted up to me with a clump of leaves in his mouth..... and out of the back of the clump of leaves was a set of legs and a tail, frozen stiff. I felt kind of bad when I snatched it away quickly and tossed it, because he gave the dead squirrel right to me, and if he wants to keep something he does! I am quite confident that he was trying to reconcile. So I still told him thanks and that he's a good boy.
