So, I am not very well educated on feminism, which is a shame. I am reading a book which probably some of you have read, I have no idea whether it is considered crappy or not, but it's easy to read. In particular I wanted to share this paragraph:
'For many, guilt - and the healthy fear of putting one's foot in one's mouth - can get in the way of an open dialogue about the interactions between feminism, racism, and classism. "One of the reasons feminism as a cohesive movement halted is that we realised that we had to include race, class, and other issues, but then didn't know how to talk about them as white women, from a place of priveledge, in respectful ways. Many white women are very concerned about racial issues, but we often aren't allowed to talk about race - just listen. Until we can have an open dialogue, we can't go forward."'
It's from The F Word, Feminism in Jeopardy, by Kristin Rowe-Finkbeiner.
I can relate to that sentiment.
