Day Trips

I have resolved to be more active this summer, and take a bunch of day trips. I am planning to start off with a visit to Petroglyphs Provincial Park next week to do a hike there. It's an 11km out and back to High Falls, and is apparently beautiful. The park also sports a glacial meromictic lake (a lake with water levels that do not mix), and of course, the petroglyphs - over 900 carvings in a marble cliff made by the Algonkian people between 600-1100 years ago.

There is just so much around here to see and do in the outdoors. I do enjoy a lot of time spent at home - gardening and reading and just relaxing on my days off. But I always look at my camping guides and day trip books and wonder why I don't just do some of these great things. So this summer I am going to do a bunch more.

Amongst other things I also want to go to Picton (Sandbanks Prov Park) sometime late in the summer, for the amazing beaches. They are so great, you can actually forget you're on Lake Ontario - which is vital if you actually want to touch the water.  There is also Warsaw Caves, for a combined canoe / hike day. Should be good.
