I have 3 camping trips (one of them is canoe in) already planned and booked and 1 canoe trip planned and scheduled (it's on crown land so no permits are required and sites can't be booked), and 1 canoe trip in the works. Cindy and I are going to Silent Lake, Bon Echo (canoe in), and Awenda Provincial Parks, for the crown land canoe trip the girls on my platoon and I are going to Kawartha Highlands Provincial Park, and for the last trip of the year maybe C, my partner J and maybe her bf, and another workmate and his gf, and I are going to The Massasauga Provincial Park. I have never been there and am totally stoked. It is in Georgian Bay and is a series of Islands and inland lakes, looks absolutely AMAZING.
On Thursday I worked an overtime shift. So, yesterday C and I went to MEC (REI to my American peeps) and the federal publications store (for maps) and spent $500 on camping gear and clothes.
On Thursday night C bought us a new car-camping tent (it's bigger, which makes for better use with the dogs), new totally cushy thermarests, and pillows. We are going to car-camp in luxury this year. At MEC I concentrated on the backpacking / canoeing gear. There are great "squishy" bowls and cups you can get now that are bomb proof and made of food grade silicone. So much better!
