My sister went to Mississippi to visit her in-laws and returned with a flea-infested, malnourished, worm-ridden kitten (Deb can pick 'em!). She definitely saved this little guy from a miserable (and very short, more than likely!) existence. I don't know that I've ever met a sweeter, more amazing little animal. And OMG, does Tater's story remind me of how I adopted Othello. I found him at an adoption day for for a no-kill shelter, and he was the runt of the litter, all alone in a cage at the end. He was so sick and underweight and bedraggled, but so sweet that I never even looked at another kitten there. He turned out to have an upper respiratory infection and worms, and he was was severely underweight, but I had to try. I figured that, if nothing else, I could make the rest of his life good for him.
And now he is big and grown up and handsome and well enough to get into mountains of trouble. I'm so glad that the same is true for Tater and that your sister took a chance on rescuing him. :D

I agree with you. Rescue animals can make some of the sweetest, most devoted pets, if only people take the extra time to nurture them and give them a chance.
