Friday night it was cleaning out Bruce's computer. It's the video production one for jazz and it was just too full of spare production files and stuff, with just a small amount of space left, and no room to defrag. We also replaced a phone cord there too.
Sunday night it was more computer, this time over at Steve's house. He's had a computer that's been in pieces for a few years and I offered to help him to get it going so he can hook up with kids from school and organize gatherings. When I went over, Steve's dad was showing me the computer and just started to work woof on it. There were 3 old hard drives in it and a CD drive that was having problems. There was lots of memory in it though, 512 megs.
Steve's dad taught computers a while ago, and it was neat to hear his stories of tiny hard drives and small memory that cost a lot of money. I guess we don't know how good we really have it now! We didn't really get anywhere, incompatible software install disks, but it was a fun meet and we were chatting the whole time. Steve even gave me a VHS with movies he recorded, with Three Amigos, a Chevy Chase movie, Ping which is a Chihuahua movie with a couple of Rottie bad guys in it, and another Dog film.
This weekend it's gotten colder, and it has me thinking of last year when Hobnose was here and it started to cool off. We had lots of warm weather, but I remember the cool nights. Miss you Hob..
Oh, Verdana is about Bruce and me trying to film a band at the Robinson Ikea and getting the boot by their promotions manager guy who had other folks recording the event. Fair enough, but the guy was a surly bloke too.
