Canine holiday

Weekend of August 9, Ric and me were just spacing out at home with nothing to do, so I woofed if I could come over on Sunday for a 1-day. I brought The Onion Movie that's based on the Onion News and site on the net. Those guys put out a lot of stuff, and this movie was pretty good and we both got lots of laughs out of it.. :) We also saw Ric's old neighborhood and that was cool, and there we went to a bar and Ric found some beer surprises there. I like doing that stuff, just like a few years ago when we went to another neighborhood where he lived.

Weekend of the 15th, Ric and his mom came into Pittsburgh for a visit and we had lunch at CiCi's pizza, and I got pineapple pizza with ham, and barbecue chicken pizza, a few of my favorites.

Next we walked around Station Square in the South Side and saw shops, one that had a train running through the halls inside of the place and they had to blow the whistle go get people out of the way. I got a calendar for Hobnose there too.

Ric's mom wanted to get her room at a hotel, and we checked a few for prices and atmosphere, and she chose the big Radisson Green Tree. I think that's the place I went to for an electronics expo before, but I didn't know how big it really was until we started exploring it. Some of the rooms have balconies, and Ric's mom really liked that. They have a pool with inside and outside sections, with a door in the water that you could swim through, kind of like a gate they would have at Sea World to let the sea lions out. There was a tiki bar outside too, and when I think of those I imagine someone drinking a pina colada out of a coconut in a shell.

The rooms we had were pretty far from the pool and main area of the hotel, they were in the outback, and actually it was pretty peaceful back there, more private than parking in the front would have been. Yes that's right, Ric's mom invited us to stay there for the night and got a room next to hers for us to stay in, we could be neighbors!

The other thing I liked in the back was the big sports bubble, something I remember from a long time ago when it was new. There was a sign on the door about the Riverhounds, so maybe they train there.

When we got in we heard a big bark, and that meant that there were other Dogs in the building! Later we found out it was a Doberman on holiday, and it had me thinking it would be a great thing to do if you were one who transformed into a Dog sometimes. You could transform and then check in with a Human friend for a vacation as a Dog, a Canine holiday. That way if anyone wonders about you or your friend, you're just on vacation in a place where no one knows you.

Dinner was at Joe's Crab Shack which was so much food. I had cajun crawdads, and Ric and his mom had a crab dinner. I never had crawdads before, and have hardly ever tasted crab where you had to crack shells and eat it, so that was something really new. It was a good visit, and then on Sunday Ric's mom had to get back to her kitty at home.

On the 20th I went to a place called the Shadow Lounge to record a poetry slam that Bruce asked me to cover. I didn't know if I'd be into it, but it was actually pretty cool and it was entertaining.

The next weekend, Sunday the 23rd Ric came back for a one day return visit so that we could have Hob House pizza feast. He also showed me his new car, a Houndai Accent, and it is sweet. We went to the Brighton Hot Dog Shoppe and did have the pizza feast. We watched the movie Caddyshack, one of Ric's favorites, then had some good chat and he took off for home.
