It's been quite a while since I posted anything for my comic on LJ. Since I know two people at leats read it via this format I might s well get everything caught up here with the current story: The Danger, the Diamond and the Dowager.

I've had this idea for a Galaxy Quest/Inspector Spacetime crossover comic for a while. Or at least I've had the itch to try it for some time. There's just something about these kind of meta-textual fandoms that interest me. It's been a couple months since I really got behind the drawing table.  But I finally got a bit of inspiration and I've started something new. It might be a while before I can get any more art on the net. I dropped the stylus for my tablet on the floor, and it's been wonky ever since. I can only get it to work if it's actually touching the surface, and even then it starts and stops. Part of the problem I've been having with my comic is that it's not exactly where I want it to be. My problem is I'm just so serious and I really have trouble getting into that kind of wonky campy mindset of the Golden and Silver age comics ( Read more... )

If I want to create the effect of double tone paper (du oshade) in photoshop, I have to:

1. Set my line art on multiply (layer 1)
2. Create a fine line pattern set at a 45 degree angle on one layer. (layer 2)
3. Duplicate that layer, and flip it so the lines are going the opposite way.(layer 3)
4. Delete the line patterns out of the areas on layers 2 & 3 I don't ( Read more... )

I had originally planned to take a vacation starting last Sunday. I got around to reading up a bit on Wally Wood, one of the well know artists of the Silver Age. It seems that after his death his former assistant Larry Hama (who went on to work as a writer and editor at Marvel) collected some of Wood's reference materials as a single sheet to help young artists.
