Chapter Fourteen:
“When Hongki wakes up, he’s going to be upset,” Minhwan explained, sitting at the kitchen table with the other members of S.T.O.D. “Siwon said that Jaejin is unconscious and he’ll need to stay in the clinic for at least a week for a full recovery.”
Junho rubbed his hand over his face. “I have a feeling that he’s going to hurt somebody. His temper flares quickly.”
“Like you’d know,” Seunghyun scoffed. He hoisted himself up to sit on the countertop. “Hyung may have a bad temper and it may be dangerous being around him sometimes, but he won’t hurt anyone.”
“I can’t imagine how Hongki would feel if Jaejin nev-” Jonghun began. After seeing Hongki standing in the doorway, eyes red, the words stuck in his throat. Changmin was standing next to him, looking out of place. “Are you okay?”
“Is Jaejin still at the clinic?” Hongki asked. His orange, fiery hair was a tangled mess and his clothes were rumpled as if he had barely gotten any sleep the previous night.
After taking in his appearance, Jinki glanced at Changmin, seeing his eyes focused on anywhere but those at the table. “Is everything okay?”
“Hm? What? Oh! Oh, yeah, yeah. Everything is fine!” Changmin rambled. He looked at the clock hanging on the wall. “I-I should get dressed and go look for a job. Bye!” He fled from the room and hurried upstairs.
“What was that about?” Jonghun wondered, placing the breakfast dishes in the sink. He looked at Hongki, his gaze intense.
Yawning, the elder shrugged. “I don’t know, Jonghun. I’m going to change and head to the clinic.” He waved before turning and heading upstairs.
“Something fishy is going on around here,” Key whispered. He tiptoed from under the kitchen table to investigate. He crept slowly up to the second floor, one step at a time since that’s all his little legs could take. He heard a knocking sound coming from down the hall. The door was open only a fraction, but he heard something that piqued his curiosity. It sounded a lot like Taemin. Key went racing down the hall, a smile on his face. He threw open the door, excited that Taemin was awake. “Oppa?”
The person on the bed stilled at hearing the little kid’s voice. Taemin pushed himself up onto his elbows, his face covered in beads of sweat. His eyes widened at the sight of Key standing in the doorway.
“K-Key?!” he gasped. “H-how long have y-you been standing there?”
Seeing unfamiliar hair on the person next to Taemin, Key frowned. “That’s not Jonghyun Oppa. Who is he? And why is he on top of…” Key’s eyes widened. He screamed before bolting from the room and running down the hall. “Appa!”
“Great. There goes our cover,” Taecyeon sighed. He rolled off the younger, eyes drifting to the door. His eyes widened when he saw Junsu and Jonghyun standing there. He sat up. “Junsu-”
“What the hell are you doing?” Junsu yelled. “He’s a kid, Taecyeon!”
“Am not…” Taemin winced at the pain in his hyung’s eyes. “Jonghyun, I can explain.”
Jonghyun shook his head, tears welling in his eyes. “I don’t want an explanation, Taemin. There’s nothing you could say to justify this…this…I don’t even know what the hell this is!”
“I’m sorry, hyung! We were just-”
“Why on earth would you sleep with the damn idiot that jumped you?”

“Key?” Jinki asked, anxious that his son’s voice was coming from the second floor and not from below the table. He stood, the chair falling backwards as he ran for the staircase. He reached the bottom as his son came running down them, jumping into his arms. “Key, what’s wrong? Why are you screaming?”
“Appa!” the boy wailed. “My Taeminnie Oppa!”
“What? What about Taemin? Is he hurt?” When he started to walk up the stairs, Key screamed again.
“No, Appa! Don’t go up there!”
“Why not? How can I check on Taemin if I don’t go up there?”
Key grabbed Jinki’s face, gazing into his eyes. “Appa, someone was…was…”
“Was what, Key? Someone was what?” Jinki grasped his son’s wrist, trying to sooth him. “Key, tell me what’s wrong.” Minho came into the room, immediately walking over to Jinki and Key.
“Key, what’s wrong?” Minho asked, frowning. His worry only grew when the boy wouldn’t answer. “Key?” He looked to Jinki. “What’s wrong with him?”
“I don’t know, Minho. He came from upstairs, screaming that something happened.” He looked at the younger. “He said it involved Taemin…” Hearing footsteps, they looked up, seeing an angry Junsu, maneuvering on crutches quite well, and a very upset Jonghyun stomping toward the top of the stairs.
“Hyung!” Taemin’s voice carried after them. When Junsu and Jonghyun were halfway down the staircase, Taemin and Taecyeon had reached the top of it.
Minho’s eyes widened. “Taemin, why are the two of you wrapped in a bed sheet?”
“Uh…um, hyung, that is…well, b-because…” Taemin looked away, his face flushing.
“Taemin-ah, what did you do?” He looked to Jonghyun and Junsu for an answer.
“They were having sex and-” Before Junsu could finish, a loud thud made them jump. They looked to the spot where Jinki was standing just a moment ago. Their eyes drifted downward to the heap on the floor.
“Appa?” Key patted Jinki’s cheek, still in his dad’s arms. “Appa, wake up!” The others rushed in from the kitchen, all shocked to see Jinki unconscious on the floor.
“Did Jinki faint?” Minhwan asked, kneeling to tap his forehead. “Yah, hyung. Wake up.”
“Why did he faint?” Nickhun asked, his eyes straying upward and resting on Taemin and Taecyeon wrapped in the sheet. His eyes widened. “Taecyeon, please tell me that you’re both fully clothed and were just acting like a ghost or something.”
Smiling sheepishly, Taecyeon felt his face get hot. “Uh, wish I could without lying, Nicky.” He glanced downward at the top of Taemin’s head. “Can you wait for us in the kitchen, please?”
“Sure…” Nickhun ushered everyone toward the kitchen, helping Minho drag Jinki’s limp body away from the stairs. After they were all in the kitchen, Taemin sighed.
“We have a lot of explaining to do, Taecyeon…” He turned his head slightly to look at the elder. “Why is your face so red?”
“How can yours not be? We were just caught having sex by a five year old kid. We made Jinki pass out with just the thought of us sleeping with each other…and our boyfriends even walked in on us.”
Remembering Jonghyun and Junsu walking in, Taemin’s face turned red. “O-okay! Enough with that! Let’s get dressed so we can properly explain ourselves.” They hurried down the hall, stopping at the leaders’ room when they heard someone yelp. “Who else is up here?”
Pushing open the door a crack so they could peek through, Taecyeon bit his lip to keep from gasping. Changmin had Hongki pushed up against the wall, his teeth scraping across the skin at the younger’s neck.
“Ch-Changmin…” Hongki whispered. His eyes were closed tightly as his fingers dug into the elder’s arms. “Why are you t-torturing me…?”
Pulling back, Changmin kissed the younger on the lips. “Until your love interest recovers, will you be mine?”
Backing away from the door, and pulling Taemin with him, Taecyeon rushed to their room. He shut the door behind them, eyes burning wit the image of his hyung with someone. “I think I know why Key was screaming now…” He rubbed his eyes, trying to rid himself of the image.
“Me, too.” Taemin walked to the bed, flopping down and burying his face in the pillows. “I’ll never be able to face them the same again…”
Joining him on the bed, Taecyeon ran his hand over the younger’s back. “We’ll be able to fake it around them. I don’t know how I’m going to face Junsu.”
“Or Jonghyun for that matter.” Taemin sighed, closing his eyes at the other’s touch. “You’re going to make me fall asleep, Taecyeon.”
He placed a kiss on the back Taemin’s neck, making him shiver. “Should we forget about our hyungs and hook up?”
“W-what?”
Taecyeon sighed before running his fingers through Taemin’s hair. “I want to date you, Taemin.”
“What about your feelings for Junsu hyung?”
Smiling sadly, he kissed Taemin’s forehead. “Junsu hyung would never like me. Although my feelings for him are strong, it’s an unrequited love that could never be returned.”
“Why do you say that?”
“Because last week Jaebeom hyung asked Junsu hyung to marry him. And Junsu said yes.”

~**********~

“What?” Junhyung couldn’t help the smile that spread across his face. “You’re getting married in two days?”
“Yes! Jiyong asked me if we could move the date up sooner. He doesn’t want to take a chance on anything happening and messing it up next week,” Hyunseung replied. He giggled over the drinks he was having with his friends from last year.
“Don’t get me wrong, Sssseung,” Dongwoon began. Doojoon frowned at hearing the youngest’s words slur. “I think he’sssss the best you’ll find. But I don’t thinkkkk you should rushhhhhh thingssssss.”
“And I don’t think you should have any more of this,” Mir said, taking the glass of liquor from Dongwoon. “You’re going to have one killer hangover tomorrow morning.”
“Gosh, just thinking about you being married in two days makes me nervous,” Kikwang said. He took another gulp of beer before hiccupping.
“My Kwangie is drunk,” Yoseob giggled.
“You’re both drunk,” Doojoon pointed out. He took the pair’s glasses from them. “Enough drinking, guys.”
Yoseob pouted. “But I like it, hyung.”
“And we like you when you’re sober.” Junhyung laughed at the face the blond made at him. “Oh, go to sleep, Banana Head.”
Hyunseung’s phone buzzed. He smiled before answering it. “Hi, honey! I was just talking about you.” He giggled at something Jiyong said. “Yeah, I’ll be home tonight. No, I’m not drunk, silly. I’m fine. I can drive.”
“You aren’t driving like that, Hyunseung.” Doojoon snatched the other’s keys before he could get them off of the counter. “I’ll drive you home and then walk back.”
“We can take him.” Mir gagged at his boyfriend’s breath when Dongwoon tried to kiss him. “Ugh, babe, your breath smells horrible.” He plugged his nose. “You won’t be drinking for a long time after this.”
“But, Mir Baby.”
“Mir Baby? Did he really just call you Mir Baby?”
Glaring at the eldest, Mir crossed his arms. “It’s better than Yoonie.” Smirking at the look on Doojoon’s face, he helped Dongwoon to his feet. “Will you help me get them to the car, Junhyung?”
“Yeah.” He stood, placing a quick kiss on Doojoon’s lips. “I’ll be back in a minute, Yoonie dear.” Junhyung hurriedly helped Mir get Hyunseung and Dongwoon to the car before coming back inside to sit on Doojoon’s lap.
“Should we take Yoseob and Kikwang home, Junnie?” Doojoon kissed his husband’s forehead. “Or should we hide the liquor and let them crash here?”
“How about they crash here and we take some beer up to our room?”
Smiling at Junhyung’s nonchalant way of saying he wanted some action, Doojoon wrapped his arms around the younger’s waist. Laughing, Junhyung clasped his arms around Doojoon’s neck and wrapped his legs around the elder’s waist.
“You’d better not drop me, Yoonie.”
“I would do no such thing, Junnie.” After carrying his husband to their room, Doojoon managed to drag their two passed out friends to the living room and hoisted them onto the couch. Throwing a blanket over them, he grabbed a bottle of wine from the kitchen and hurried upstairs.

~**********~

“How’re you feeling?” Sungmin asked Kyuhyun. He had fallen asleep on the way home and Sungmin carried him into the house, setting him on their bed. He was stretched out next to the younger, gazing peacefully at him.
“My head still hurts a little, Minnie,” Kyuhyun replied. He glanced out their bedroom window. “Is it really necessary for the five assassins to stay here?”
Laughing at his husband’s protest, Sungmin kissed him. “For a little while, it’s necessary, Kyu. They’re only staying to make sure we’re protected from Henry and Zhoumi.”
“Are Ryeowook and Shindong staying here, too?” When the elder nodded, he smiled. “I feel a little better knowing that Henry can’t touch them right now.”
“They won’t get close to Lakeside without us knowing,” Rain explained. “One of us will always be stationed at the entrances at all times.”
“Won’t that exhaust you, though?”
Rain laughed. “We’re highly trained assassins. Besides, the Shiny Treasures of One Day agreed to help out as much as they could.”
“And everyone else offered to help, too.”
Kyuhyun looked at Sungmin, hope shining in his eyes. “Are we really going to be safe from them?”
“As long as Doojoon lives here, and you’re his friends, I will protect you with my life,” Leeteuk explained, entering the conversation. He noticed that Kyuhyun was staring at him. “Is something wrong?”
“Leeteuk hyung, is that a hickey on your neck?”
Leeteuk’s eyes widened, him automatically slapping his hand over the mark that attracted attention. “Uh…well, you see…” He felt arms snake around his waist, his face flushing at the looks on Sungmin’s and Kyuhyun’s faces.
“We have to go back to the west entrance, Teukie,” Kangin informed him. “Daesung and Seungri need to rest for a while since Hyunseung and Jiyong moved their wedding date up.” He placed a kiss on the elder’s temple, unaware of the audience.
“Uh, K-Kangin. You do know that both Sungmin and Kyuhyun are awake, right?”
Peering around Leeteuk, Kangin’s face turned red, but he refused to let go of the other’s waist. “H-hi, guys.” He glanced at the floor, too embarrassed to look at them. “Are you feeling alright?”
“Yes, hyung. We’re alright.”
Kangin smiled, looking up at Kyuhyun. “I could get used to be called hyung.”
“Since he’s the youngest of the assassins, he hasn’t been called hyung much. He likes the thought of it, apparently.” Rain rolled his eyes at Kangin’s grin. “Oh, let’s get to work. You two go tell Daesung and Seungri to go home. I’ll keep watch here.”
They waved before leaving. Kyuhyun and Sungmin couldn’t help but laugh at their hyungs’ faces turning red. Rain rolled his eyes again before exiting their room and going to check on Ryeowook and Shindong.
“I don’t think I’ve ever seen Kangin hyung smile that much.”
Laughing at Kyuhyun’s respect for the assassin, Sungmin kissed him. “Try to sleep, Kyuhyun. I’ll try to get some rest, too. We’ll need it for the next few weeks.”
Snuggling closer to Sungmin, Kyuhyun yawned before closing his eyes. “Good night. I love you, my Minnie.”
“I love you, too, my Kyu. Sweet dreams.”
