So the aforementioned nephew's new favorite opera is Le Nozze di Figaro, and he wants a Figaro outfit. Despite my dubious noises my mom decided to order a boy's breeches pattern, and now she has discovered why I thought Real Breeches weren't worth the effort just for dress-up! Also, I'm trying to find fabric to more-or-less recreate this dress (here it is again)  and the very few things I have found are way too expensive for my purposes. I've found good things (i.e. silk) at around $20/yd....I'd rather spend something ( Read more... )

I'm fitting - or trying to fit! - my pink sacque, and there are these waist wrinkles. I have no idea how to get rid of them. I've tried adjusting the dart(s) in the front. I've tried moving the side seams forward and back, and their present location seems to cause the least wrinkliness so far. Is there something to be done? Do I need a dart? Or are ( Read more... )
