So I know I'm a little late with this, but I only got the pics from my sisters a couple days ago.

Convocation went well, I got my hood placed over my right arm, walked to the centre pillow on the stage, kneeled and was hooded. The chancellor (he was the one in front of me while I was being hooded) asked me what I was doing now, so I told him. Then it was off the stage to the left for a picture and to pick up my diploma and a couple other things.

The only picture my mom took of my dress. She made a comment when we got home about forgetting to take some real pictures of it or something.

Various pics in my regalia. They're not great, we're all squinting trying not to be blinded by the very bright sun.

This is what makes the past 4 years worth it. My university diploma. It's now hanging in my living room in the frame my sisters bought me :). It was a pain getting it back here, the stupid flight attendant took it for stupid reasons and stuck it in some closet on the plane, then was being a pain when I asked for it back. She made me stand basically in the way of those leaving the plane, to ask some other woman if she knew where it was. Idiot.

And the necklace from my dad.

I was sooo tired that Friday, I didn't sleep on the plane. I think I was up for 36+ hours straight. But after the first 24 it didn't matter anymore. And next Friday I get to take an even later flight into Toronto for the Con. I really hope to get some sleep for that one.

On Sunday (the 24th) I finally figured out how to look up how to get places in Vancouver. The translink site has this nice 'trip planning' feature that tells you what buses etc. to take to get somewhere. Very handy. So I went to Queen Elizabeth Park and Vanier Park.

Queen Elizabeth Park

It's so pretty! Seriously, possibly the prettiest place I've ever been. And anyone whose watched SG-1 will recognize the conservatory (Gamekeeper).

Vanier Park
After QE Park, I went back downtown then caught the #22 to Vanier Park. Again, quite pretty with the ocean and the beaches. And I just had to take a picture of this cool metallic crab statue that was outside the museum. I'll need to go back, I didn't go into anything, just walked around for a bit.

As you can probably tell from the pictures, the weather got progressively worse throughout the day. I finally got home, and not an hour later thunder, lightning and fair sized hail started raining down. And I thought Waterloo had crazy weather ;). At least I got back in time not to be pelted on my walk home, though I got good and soaked (even with an umbrella) waiting for the #22 back to downtown. But I think the street looks kind of cool with the water flowing around the hailstones. Never have I been somewhere where it's still below 20C degrees the week of my birthday. It's craziness! And kind of fun because my family is melting in 34C temperatures :P.

Grabbing some lunch, then I'm off to work. With the long weekend coming up I hope to catch up a bit reading my flist, sorry I've been neglecting it.
