I have just received a small packet of salvia hispanica (aka
Chia seeds) as a freebie from the company I order my tea and coffee from.
I don't know what to do with these things. Google is telling me all about what a superfood they are, how if I eat them they'll make me lose weight and gain ten IQ points and generally look like a supermodel, but it's not being so helpful with actually suggesting tasty ways to prepare them.
"Chia Fresca" sounds like I should just mix seeds into lemonade, but it occurs to me that I'd be left with a sludge of seeds at the bottom of the glass. I don't do a lot of smoothies or blended drinks at home. I've considered just treating them like poppy seeds and making bread with them, but Wikipedia also says that they change texture when they get wet and I'm worried about gelatinous, seemingly undercooked bread.
Do any of y'all eat chia seeds? If so, how?
