Jackie rushed in, almost tripping on the door frame. Thankfully, no one was around to see her less-than-graceful entrance. Well, almost no one, as Jackie noticed Avery towards the back of the room. She unwrapped the scarf around her neck, and smiled. "Hey, Avery! Need help?"

"Oh, Jack, there you are. I'm so glad you could make it." Avery pulled up a chair beside her and patted it, motioning for Jacqueline to take a seat. She checked the time. Still a little early, but Luciano should be arriving with the cake anytime soon. Where was the boy?

Their table was still empty, but she had thought they could get some food, maybe play some games, if the rest of the crowd are up for it. "Not so much help, actually. I was just thinking of ordering some food later and maybe come up with some games? I don't know. What do you think?" she asked Jack, since she knew the girl would be much better with things like this anyway.

"Hmm... I guess it depends on how many people you're expecting... and who they are." Jackie smiled. "You know, if it were a bunch of Gryffindors, they'd practically tear the roof off this place. But Gabe's more low key... I don't think he'd be thrilled if there was a drinking game. I think he'd just be happy talking with friends. If we really needed a game, maybe a word game or maybe pictionary/charades using the flagrate spell."

She shrugged. "Food's probably your best option. You can't really go wrong with food."

Avery listened as Jack spoke about their options, a thoughtful look on her face. "I guess you're right. And no, I don't think there'll be too many Gryffindors, save for you, Lauren and I." She wrinkled her nose at the idea of a drinking game. "Yuck, I don't think I'll be drinking anything besides juice and maybe a little butterbeer. It doen't actually make you drunk, does it?" Avery had never drank more than a few sips, so she wasn't really sure of the effects.

"I'm thinking of some chips, some dips, you know, nothing to heavy. Reckon that's okay? And your ideas for games are terrific." She had to get opinions, as she didn't want to end up disappointing those who would be coming.

Jackie unwrapped the scarf around her throat, still quite warm from her run to and back from Honeydukes. Everyone was mentioning how cold it was, but she shrugged. Once more people started gathering and talking and whatnot, they'll warm up too.

She turned to Luc. "Did you need help with the cake? Honeydukes has one. I was going to snatch it too, but I didn't have enough arms."

She looked from Letty to Julian to Avery. "How many people are you expecting?"

"Oh no, you shouldn't, Julian. We can settle the bill after I get the drinks, yes? I haven't been in here forever, so I don't really know their prices." Avery gently pushed his hand away, smiling politely. She had thought he would be angry at her, and was relieved to see that he had somewhat calmed down. "And of course we'd want to try your juice. Why wouldn't we?" She looked at the others, hoping to get their agreement on the matter as well. She had just met him anyway, and it wouldn't do good to offend someone so early. It wasn't exactly her style either ( ... )

Julian knew that what he had offered her wouldn't be quite enough, if everyone wanted a drink, but the only coin left in his pocket was needed for ingredients for a potion that Julian thought just might reach Jack and Avery. After all, if it was going to replace firewhiskey, one house would need to try it out. Who better than Gryffindor ( ... )

((Lauren will give Luciano a HEART ATTACK))

Luciano shook his head emphatically. “Nonono, it’s my mistake. I’m sure it just slipped my mind. Don’t worry about it,” Luciano reassured her, patting her shoulder kindly. “I’ll just run off to Honeydukes-I brought some money with me.” He tore his eyes away from hers, picked up his still-damp cloak, and waved to the group. “Um…I’ll be back in a jiffy, don’t wait up for me.”

Looking forlornly at the warm fireplace, he pushed open the door and went out to brave the rain.

Jackie winked at Lauren. "Why don't you sing, Lauren? It should be better than what Madam Rosmerta's playing. What is she playing? Polka?"

She tilted her head to try to figure it out, but there were more people in the pub now - and not just for the party - and it was harder to hear the music playing. Her ears perked up when Letty asked Avery about her afternoon apointment, but it would figure - and not be so unexpected - if Avery had errands to run. She was always the more sensible one.

As the Jumer went around the table, Jackie took the goblet of pumpkin juice. It would make no sense to waste it since Avery bought it, and she didn't think the Jumer would last another round. She opened the box of a chocolate frog, quickly clapping the frog between her hands as it popped out. Cool! A card she didn't already have. She smiled. The party was turning out nicely.

"I'm jealous!" Julian exclaimed happily. Both Avery's and Lauren's drinks sounded splendid, while he only tasted apples. He reminded himself that he did love apples, but it would be nice to maybe try some of the strawberry-mango Soren said he had, or anything that involved chocolate like Avery, and since he did love apple juice, Lauren's would've been great. But no, only apple juice.

Thinking it over, Julian came to the conclusion it didn't feel much different to be eighteen than seventeen. The more he thought, he noticed that on your birthday, you're only one day older than the day before when you were a year younger. Unless you lost a lot of weight or suddenly became horribly depressed or annoyingly happy, he reckoned it didn't feel any different ( ... )

Lauren bit her lip through a smile as Gabe answered her question. She was yet only 16, but she couldn't wait for the day when she was 'of age' and legally an adult. Although 17 was the legal age in England, in her mind 18 was when she would legally be of age, since she was technically a citizen of America -- something of which her mother never failed to let her forget. That's probably why she was so curious to know how it felt.

She was caught off guard when Jackie suggested she sing... and then Julian agreed with her? Now, normally she would be thrilled to sing, but during a birthday party... well, it wasn't exactly the type of setting she was used to.

"Jack, you're crazy," She laughed, tucking a few stray pieces of hair behind her ear, "You know I don't sing without my guitar..." It was a nice excuse, and she was glad for the reason to not sing. "But you are right, this music? Definitely outdated."
