Jackie rushed in, almost tripping on the door frame. Thankfully, no one was around to see her less-than-graceful entrance. Well, almost no one, as Jackie noticed Avery towards the back of the room. She unwrapped the scarf around her neck, and smiled. "Hey, Avery! Need help?"

"Oh, Jack, there you are. I'm so glad you could make it." Avery pulled up a chair beside her and patted it, motioning for Jacqueline to take a seat. She checked the time. Still a little early, but Luciano should be arriving with the cake anytime soon. Where was the boy?

Their table was still empty, but she had thought they could get some food, maybe play some games, if the rest of the crowd are up for it. "Not so much help, actually. I was just thinking of ordering some food later and maybe come up with some games? I don't know. What do you think?" she asked Jack, since she knew the girl would be much better with things like this anyway.

"Hmm... I guess it depends on how many people you're expecting... and who they are." Jackie smiled. "You know, if it were a bunch of Gryffindors, they'd practically tear the roof off this place. But Gabe's more low key... I don't think he'd be thrilled if there was a drinking game. I think he'd just be happy talking with friends. If we really needed a game, maybe a word game or maybe pictionary/charades using the flagrate spell."

She shrugged. "Food's probably your best option. You can't really go wrong with food."

Avery listened as Jack spoke about their options, a thoughtful look on her face. "I guess you're right. And no, I don't think there'll be too many Gryffindors, save for you, Lauren and I." She wrinkled her nose at the idea of a drinking game. "Yuck, I don't think I'll be drinking anything besides juice and maybe a little butterbeer. It doen't actually make you drunk, does it?" Avery had never drank more than a few sips, so she wasn't really sure of the effects.

"I'm thinking of some chips, some dips, you know, nothing to heavy. Reckon that's okay? And your ideas for games are terrific." She had to get opinions, as she didn't want to end up disappointing those who would be coming.

Julian was not recognizable behind his scarf, hat, and long twill trench. Julian hardly went anywhere unprepared. Between his interaction with Ming and his arrival, Julian nearly ran to the common room to gather a pocket of change and a very large bottle of his Jumer. What a better place to try it out than at a party?!

He unraveled the scarf, exposing his only slightly pink face. It appeared that Jack and Avery liked to be even earlier than he. Wandering over, he smiled even though he hardly knew either of the girls. He didn't seem fazed at all. "Hello Ladies. How're you?" He produced his drink and set it on the table. "I thought I might bring a drink along, since I wasn't doing much of anything else. Everyone is bound to like it." Considering the taste changed according to the drinkers taste buds. He hoped that would make up for not having a proper gift for Gabe.

(Alright, Irene (I think it is), I really have to go now. Bubi.)

"Do you want me to go to Honeydukes to pick up some stuff?" Jackie asked. She looked around the room, and noticed Julian entering. "It looks like I'll have enough time."

She then rubbed her chin. "Or should we get a phonograph down here? Music's always nice."

She smiled at Julian. "Hey, Julian. How's it going?"

"Hello, Julian," Avery greeted the boy politely, signalling for him to take a seat. "Should be a while before the others arrive, though I'm not sure exactly who Letty and Luciano had invited." She eyed the juice curiously. "What's that?" she asked, pointing a finger at the bottle.

"Oh, and Jack, some candies and chocolate frogs from Honeydukes would be terrific," she said, clasping her hands together in delight. "We could probably ask Madame Rosmerta to play some music for us, though."

((OOC: Julian's not supposed to know Ming at this point. They only met at night, right?))

"Ok!" Jackie smiled. She grabbed her scarf. "I'll see you in a little while."

With a wave, she hurried from the Three Broomsticks and out the door, making sure not to trip over the frame again.

"I call it Jumer. It's a potion I made which has been received with rave reviews. I'm beginning to think it tastes like whatever the drinkers favorite juice is - regardless of whether they've had it before or not," Julian explained as he sat down. He smiled "I don't much mind who comes. I'd like to think I'm friendly with everyone!" And he was, for the most part. Then again, he had yet to encounter any particularly mean people.

"Candy?" Julian perked up at just the mention. He would've given her a sickle or two so she could get a bit more, but she had already gone. "Would you like me to go ask Madame Rosmerta to play music?" He hardly went anywhere else in Hogsmeade, so he had gotten to know her quite well. He suppose it wouldn't be too difficult to get her to play some.

((ooc: Uh. Yeah, you're right. For some reason I thought they met in the morning. >< Sorry. I suppose now that you know what I was thinking, that might clear up a few things that I was saying with Ming.))

Letty wandered in to the three broomsticks nervously. She hated meeting up with people in crowded places like this, everyone could easily see her as she enetered, but there was that awkward time between entering a crowded room and spotting people you know. During this time you invarably standing, rooted to the spot, staring around the room, squinting into corners and looking like a prat.

Luckily, it didn't take Letty long to spot her friends and she sighed with relief when she did. She'd had an awful week and this was exactly what she needed. To be around people who were nice and happy and would care.

She walked over to Avery and gave her a quick hello hug. "Heya!" she said, "music would be awesome. You can't have a party without music!"

She then sat down next to Julian and flashed him a grin. She was beginning to feel herself again.

Luciano jogged down the street, the icy rain dampening his hair, cloak, and eyelashes. He was late, for a first, and was rather embarrassed by that fact. Shoving his hands deeper into his pockets, he hurried towards the Three Broomsticks.

Usually the bar was not his favorite place to be. The heavy crowd, sometimes involving some rather unsavory customers, made him nervous. Shrugging off his apprehension, he pushed the door open and went inside.

"Sorry I'm late," he looked down at his shoes, removing the damp cloak and hanging it over a chair. "I just...yeah, sorry..."

Julian smiled at Letty. She seemed to be in a better mood. In fact, Julian thought to himself, her grin didn't even look forced. "You're looking for some music too, then, huh?" He didn't have much else to do (besides grin and enjoy Letty and Avery's company), so Julian popped up and had a short chat with Madame Rosmerta. When music began playing, he smiled softly to himself, remembering he ought to have told her what type.

Once he returned, Julian realized that Luciano had arrived. If it was possible, Julian smiled wider. "Luc. Don't worry about it." He patted Luc on the back gently before sitting back into his seat. Even though he had his wand with him, Julian did not bother to dry his coat (which he had yet to take off). He thought it might set his jacket on fire. A generally bad thing. He followed Luciano's lead, removing his jacket and draping it over an unused chair. "Do any of you know when Gabe is coming?"

Avery returned Letty's hug warmly, glad that she had been able to make it. And when Luciano arrived, she grinned wider, knowing that she could very well leave the celebration in their hands should she need to leave early. Which she should. "Hey, Letty. How've you been?" She hadn't seen the girl for quite some time, and had wondered if she was alright. Not now, though. Maybe later.

She looked over at Luciano, wondering if he had gotten the birthday cake. Or had she forgotten to inform him. "Um, Luc? You didn't by any chance get the cake, did you?" Right, she had forgotten. Avery groaned inwardly.

"I told Gabe it'll be a little after 11am. He'd probably be here anytime soon." She glanced at the time. Still a little while to go. "Shall we go get the food first?"

"Thanks Juli..an. Julian." Luciano winced, not wanting to insult the sixth year by calling him by a feminine nickname. Not that he had anything against females (besides the fact that they were very, very scary), but some guys could get very defensive about their masculinity. He doubted Julian was one of them, he was a nice guy, but he just had to make sure.

"Cake?" He asked stupidly, stomach dropping. Oh no...did he just ruin the party by being forgetful? It was going to be all his fault. This was terrible. "I um...I'll go run off and get it right now! What type d'you think he'd want?"

Avery stood up and waved her hands frantically in front of herself. "Oh, no, no, it's not your fault. I thought I had mentioned it in my owl that I sent you, but it seems that I haven't. Would you help us get it, then? We'll try and distract Gabe if he's here, until the cake arrives, okay?" she asked, a pleading look in her eyes.

"And anything's good. Chocolate, maybe?" She turned towards the others. "I'm going to go order some drinks. What would all of you like?"

"Pumpkin juice for me!" Jackie said out-of-breath, just shortly after she raced inside. She looked around. Good! Gabe hadn't arrived yet. She opened up her arms and candy toppled on to the table.

Ice mice, chocolate frogs, cockroach clusters, Bertie Botts, fizzing whizbees, and acid pops littered the table. She grinned. "Do you think I bought enough?"
