It had been strange, sleeping in a bed other than his own. He wasn't used to being surrounded by the smell of a woman -- not just a woman, though, but Veronica Sullivan. For that reason, he'd both been able to sleep rather easily and not well at all, if that made any sense. It had taken him a long while to fall asleep, but once he had, he'd stayed comfortably asleep until 6:15AM.
Why he'd woken up at 6:15, he had no clue. It was really a lucky thing that he wasn't a violent waker like Veronica was... he'd likely have kicked her and then she'd have kicked him back, and it would have turned into a violent and possibly bloody kicking war.
Tsk tsk.
When he woke up, he found himself with his arms wrapped around her waist, holding her close to him. He was actually a bit surprised that he'd been able to sleep like that, since he wasn't used to sleeping with anyone else in bed with him. It wasn't a bad thing, though, until she decided to wake up. Then he was quite sure that he'd end up with a black eye or something.
That didn't stop him from holding her as he woke up, however.
