Title: Rose's Birth
Rating/Warnings: PG Birthing and extreme Fluff

Summary: Hermione gives birth to her daughter Rose

Ron held tight to his wife’s hand, pressing gently into her palm as he counted.
“Five… four… three… two… and push baby”
Hermione Weasley rose up and bore down into the pain, grunting hard from the exertion of it all. She looked at the medi wizard and junior healers surrounding her, giving into the incredible urge to push that had been building all day. The past nine months had accumulated into this one day. A string of moments that would soon alter their lives forever. After a rather large push she lay back to rest for just a second before Ron was there urging her to continue.
“Okay again…” he said calmly, his voice barely hinting at the excitement of the circumstances.
Hermione took a deep cleansing breath, getting ready for the next bit of work. Another pain wracked her body as Ron counted down again. She concentrated on his voice; it was giving her much needed strength.
Giving birth wasn’t anything you could truly prepare for, the textbooks could tell you how to give birth but they couldn’t prepare you for the pain and emotion of the experience. Little things like Ron’s voice were suddenly so precious to her as she again bore into the pain, trying hard not to fight against it. She felt his hand pushing the sweaty curls away from her face. The small gesture made her love him even more as the gentle sensation helped ease the tension of the moment.
“One more and we should have her,” commanded the wizard in charge as Hermione prepared to give it one more large push.
“That’s it honey, push real hard this time…” Ron tried encouraging her.
“Five… four… three… two… and push… push hard”
Hermione pressed down as hard as strength would allow. She let out a loud moan as the pain pushed her to press down harder. Suddenly she felt the pressure ease as the baby’s head passed through. She lay back with a sigh of relief as a healer whispered a spell to help pull the baby out further. A moment later a loud cry filled the air and Hermione cried out with joy and elated exhaustion.
Ron pressed a kiss to her forehead and whispered the words “I love you baby. You did it!”
Hermione looked up into his ecstatic face and knew the effort had been worth it. Finally, they were parents and the happiness that filled her was indescribable.
She watched as a nurse brought the baby, wrapped in a pink blanket towards her. As the baby was placed into her arms, she felt an incredible pull toward that beautiful creature. Nothing and no one had ever been more important to her life and she knew right then that she’d die for this tiny innocent babe.
“She’s beautiful Mione” she heard Ron whisper as he looked on in absolute awe.
With a bit of reluctance Hermione pulled him close and transferred their daughter into his arms. Ron was worried at first but soon held her as if she’d break into a million pieces, the pride emanating from his freckled features.
“No one’s ever done anything this remarkable for me,” he whispered through his tears, “I love you Hermione”
The phrase tickled her ears since Ron wasn’t usually the emotional sort. She smiled lovingly at him before answering back playfully.
“Oh Ronald Weasley, you can be such a sap at times…” she said with a tired giggle.
He moved forward to place the baby back into her arms, pressing his forehead gently against hers, his thumb squeezed tightly within little Rose’s fingers.
Hermione smiled at the sight, her and Ron were no longer a couple… because today, through a miracle, they’d become a family.
