It was dark, so dark. And yet the sun was shining.
Betrayal had swallowed her in darkness so black she didn’t know if her eyes were open or closed anymore. She didn’t know how she had let him throw her this far down, into a pit of dark, endless despair. This darkness was enveloping her, changing her. She could no longer change her hair. She couldn’t smile. All she wanted was to sit in this darkness she had been thrown in, sit in it and cry.
Life had other plans.
The bruises, the tears, the heartbreak- they were all hidden. No one could see them. She was so confused- he said he loved her. Then he went and did this. And until she could get out- get out of this cycle of abuse- she would never know anything different.
Tonks hadn’t been held and told she was loved and wanted for a long time.
She could slam the walls, bruise herself, cry until she was out of tears, and do it all over again- but it wouldn’t change the fact that Remus Lupin had broken her heart. And a broken heart continues to beat, so she continued to live.
At night, she could hold herself tight, hold herself together, and whisper that he would see what he was doing to her. He would see the pain, and he would make things right.
But she needed him to mend her heart. And it was getting beyond mending now.
