"Do you think we should go?" Anna asked Severus quizzically as they left the classroom. "He seems.. annoyingly happy I don't know if I could deal with him for an entire dinner.." The eleven-year-old frowned. She loved potions, but that man.. He was so loud and excitable.

"Give it a try.." Severus shrugged, looking back as the rest of the class left after them. "That other girl was invited as well.. so maybe we'll know people."

"No." Rosier and Wilkes had caught up with them on their way to the great hall for dinner. "I heard that redhead talking with some others on the train. She's a mudblood." Rosier, Wilkes and Anna all frowned, but Severus raised an eyebrow.

"My.. uhh.. " Severus took a moment before he frowned too. "Right." It was awkward. He was halfblood himself, and his mum had never been big on all that blood line stuff.

"You don't like those pieces of dirt.. do you Snape?" Lucius and his posse had rounded up on the first years just as they entered the Great Hall. "Because then you're in the wrong house."

Bella cackled and shot a look at the other tables. "They're all dirt. All of them." He smile couldn't have been more evil as they sat down. Which was amusing, thought Anna, as the boy that had been addressed as her cousin only days before seemed to have been brought up a completely different way.

"Even our dear cousin and sister, Bella?" The blonde haired vixen, Cissy asked, her voice icy. She obviously knew what her sister's response would be.

"Blood traitors." Bella responded, staring first at a very attractive brunette at the Hufflepuff table, and then at the shaggy, black haired boy surrounded by friends at the Gryffindor table. "I'm sure his mother is this close to burning his name off the tree. If it was up to me, I'dve kicked him out the moment I heard he wasn't in here." She bit her lip, obviously stopping herself from saying more.

"Right." Anna raised an eyebrow as she grabbed a heaping helping of rice and beef. "Tell me.. about professor Slughorn.. please Lucius." She asked, timidly. "Severus and I have been invited to dine with him in a fortnight.."

"Ah.. the slug club." Lucius smiled grandly, an air of superiority about him. "I was invited in my first year as well.. for excellence all around, and my father Abraxas. It's an honour. And the food is much.. better." He prodded the beef with his fork. "Was anyone else in your class invited?"

Severus nodded at this. "The redhead over there.. in Gryffindor.." He was going to continue about how good she had been in potions, but Wilkes interrupted.

"Mudblood." He coughed softly, and all the heads from Lucius' group turned. "Very bright though.. just.. dirt." He shrugged, and continued eating, as Anna held back a laugh.

Severus just looked down forlorn, murmuring something or other about the unfairness of it all. Murmurings that were ignored by everyone as they continued talking about the inferiorities of others.

Rosier and Bella were most interested to hear from Anna about Petrova Porskoff, as well as her family and life in Russia.

"Well.. Petrova is my father's good friend.. childhood friends. He was there when Petrova first did the Porskoff Ploy" Anna beamed. "And of course.. we are pureblood. Pureblood Russian. Pureblood magic." A nod of approval swam through the listeners.

"What side does your father swing for? Has he heard about the Dark Lord.. you know who." Rosier asked, eyes wide. "My father agrees with him."

"My father always liked Grindelwald's ideas.." Anna shrugged. "This.. Dark Lord whoever he is.. I'm sure he has decent ideas as well."

Bella nodded profusely. "Pureblood all the way, Pelovsky." She grinned, and squirmed slightly. "Purging of all.. I heard he went to school here.. and when he was here.. a muggleborn died."

"My father told me that as well!" Rosier smiled widely. "My father was good chaps with him!"

They quieted themselves after this, as the Hufflepuff table had started to lean over and listen.

The rest of the meal was eaten in silence, except for a few more comments about the next day, and asking the older students about books, and courses, and teachers.
