Kira, my friend, you know this is all for you.
Not too much has been going on in the ol' Kansas City, mostly because a lot of people are out of town.
The day after I got home, I went Christmas shopping with my dad, then met Ellen at her house to exchange Christmas presents. Those were good times. After that, I went to my friend Hayley's house to see "everyone," especially Andrea, who left the day after Christmas for a cruise and who won't be coming back into town between the cruise and school. A bunch of people were there, most of whom I wasn't really too interested in talking to, but there were some good friends there, as well. It was fun, surprisingly. Andrea and I drove around and talked until 2:30 in the morning.
Christmas was pretty good... I got a digital camera from my dad and a really pretty white gold pendant from my grandparents. Sounds cheesy, but it was actually really beautiful.
The day after Christmas, I went to Ellen's house and hung out with her, Nancy, Adam (one of my ex-boyfriends... bad breakup... slightly awkward), and JOE!!! I love Joe, and haven't seen him in a loooong time. He's from South Africa, but lives in KC now and goes to Northwestern (very interesting family... he used to be in a sitcom and his sister is a ballerina in the Netherlands). So that was a fun night. We just hung out and talked and such. Nancy broke up with Parker that night, too, so that was a bit of a downer but didn't end up ruining our night. :)
The next night, me, Nan, and Ellen all watched Sex and the City and had a FABULOUS time. Nothing too exciting, but it was still really fun. We did something else, too, that I can't remember, but oh well. Good times.
The night after THAT, Ellen and I went to see the Life Aquatic with Adam and our friends Katie and Ellen K. It was fun, but some people we were supposed to meet later bailed. Hmph. We went to get some food and Ellen and I ended up watching MORE Sex and the City and talking until seven o'clock in the morning. That was a good night.
The next night, Nancy's parents had a neighborhood holiday party that all the "kids" were invited to, so we all headed over there and hung out for a while. Ellen's boyfriend Chris was in town by then, so we all met him. Nice guy. Stayed late at Nan's house and watched Garden State with her and Adam. Slightly weird, just because it's weird to spend so much time with someone you broke up with two years ago. Oh well, it was fun. He's a lot different now, but still the same somehow. *shrug*
Blah, blah, blah, nothing exciting happened. Then came New Year's, and nothing exciting happened THEN, either. Went to a party with Nancy that had a bunch of people at it who graduated from our high school a year before us, including Joe and Ellen's ex, Ben (which is why she didn't go). It was really awkward, but not with Joe and Anne and Ben. Plus, Ben's brother Peter showed up (who is my/our age) (and who goes to Carleton, which is about a block away from St. Olaf) (and who is INCREDIBLY attractive), and that was awesome. Then we went to Ellen's house to join her and Chris (and a bottle of champagne... yum!) for the big countdown. Nancy had some big news (she's bisexual) and then we went home. Slightly random (the whole night).
In other news, Josh and I are no longer fighting. The bastard actually APOLOGIZED (suprised? I was.). Last night he left a weird message on my voicemail saying "Rachel, it's Josh. I love you." Uhhh??? But it was followed by Alex (his best friend, one of my friends as well) saying "If you don't pick up the fucking phone, I'm going to kick your fucking ass." So... again... uhhh??? When talking to him tonight, he didn't really say anything about it. Very odd. Not sure what to think. We shall see what happens when he gets back into town on Sunday night (he's in Tennessee visiting Alex).
So that's it, really. Hopefully things will pick up a little once people start coming back into Kansas City.
Hope everyone's break has been LOVELY!
