*she shakes her head, letting go of him and sinking to the floor*

He's quite real and you're no Elaine, and the mirror won't crack unless you strike it. If he needs you to wait, then you're serving him in the waiting. If the service is hard, its devotion's of more worth. Whether he calls you in an hour or a month, it's *you* he'll be calling, and not your distract shadow.

I'd offer you a task to focus on, if you wouldn't think the offer an impertinence and any task I could provide mind-numbingly dreary. Surely you've something to fill the wait with?

How can there be anything to fill the time? It is dead time. There is nothing. Nothing for me, nothing for anyone. It is dead.

I agree with grim_smile about the writing, btw. It's really a gorgeous breakdown.

If you'll only listen to what you don't like, try this:
Get a hold of yourself. It's only his enemies' weak hysteria that helps him.

And there is much. Find something to offer to do for when you see him next, and something again after that. It hardly seems like you to be afraid of showing initiative.

It's more a case of Bella having temporary difficulty distinguishing what is real and what she's imagining: Snape sounds sensible and comforting, is therefore to be distrusted.
