Name: Regulus Black
Format: Journal Entry
Date: 22nd December, 1977
Relevance: Evidence of use of the Unforgiveables by Regulus Black and an unnamed woman, thought to be Bellatrix Lestrange

It was my first time.

I tortured a man tonight. No. Not a man. A Muggle. It’s different. She said that he stood for everything that is wrong with our world. She was right. He deserved it.

It wasn’t wrong.

I never expected it to be so easy. I raised my wand. I cast the spell. It should have been more difficult. It should have hurt. How can you cause so much pain and yet feel nothing of it?

It should have hurt.

She was kind to me. I didn’t even have to hear his screams.

A lesson in self-defence. That’s what she called it. It wasn’t wrong. It was a necessary lesson.

It wasn’t wrong.
