Why This Must Be Read: I might be a liiiiitle biased because this was written for meeee, but also it is objectively a BEAUTIFUL story. fartherfaster is a master of poetic prose--I love her turns of phrases and the beauty of the imagery she uses. I love that Maria is unapologetically queer (bi/pan, demisexual) and that when she turns Sam down the first time, he very sincerely offers to be her friend instead. And I love the friendship they build, the slow burning attraction and the growing trust and respect. I love how they're both broken a little, scarred both literally and figuratively, but they don't let their trauma define them and they don't pity the other for what they've gone through. Highly recommended.

Why This Must Be Read: The first time Sam tries to ask Maria out she thinks it's a joke and turns him down. Enter Natasha, matchmaker extraordinaire. This was adorable and hilarious. Natasha is ridiculous and comes up with overly complicated schemes, all of Sam's friends are trying to "help" him out and have no chill about it, and Sam just wants to die of embarrassment. An incredibly fun read.

Why This Must Be Read: How much do I love this story?? SO VERY MUCH. This story should be subtitled "NO WHITE DUDES ALLOWED." Maria is Latina in this story (white passing) and along with Sam, Rhodey and T'challa (this was written pre-Civil War) play leading roles in this story. The 4 of them get kidnapped when Maria, Sam, and Rhodey go to meet T'Challa and are held hostage in an attempt to coerce T'Challa into building the bad guys more Falcon wings. This is a fun action/adventure story with some great moments of humor (the pose Rhodey needs to make to call his suit! T'Challa throwing shade at Tony!), Maria being a badass who has no time for male posturing, and some awesome cameos!

When they finally get some time to themselves, they take advantage of it. I like how despite the interrupted dates, you get to see why they work so well together, and the growing affection and understanding between them.
