I just spent half an hour reading complex literary thoughts on Harry Potter, and somehow this has made me think about Doctor Who. SPOILERS FOR SERIES SIX. Three things only, but I tend to wander off on a tangent....

And the fitting in theory isn't bad either... maybe... *deliberately shuts brain off at this point*. No, I will not make this comment longer than the post itself. No. Lol :D

I think they wear suits to subliminally enhance their control - suits are (in the eras and locations we see them) traditionally worn by people in authority. Presumably in the Roman Republic they'd have worn togas in a similar oh-god-is-that-part-of-their-skin-what-the-hell? style.

I now have the image of a Silent in a wrinkled toga stuck in my brain and it is all your fault!

The toga is like Dobby's pillowcase one in my head >.< And it's way too small and now I have the awkward Silent repeatedly bending its knees together and tugging at the bottom-most hem...

I have been having thinky-thoughts about the true nature of the silence for a long time now. I do think there's more to them than we've seen so far. Because seriously? What we have seen so far doesn't match up to the expectations of series 5. Where is the grand master plan? The explanation for the girl? Where are the Silence that ate up Rosanna Calvieri's world?

I agree - there's got to be more! Especially as the Doctor's way of defeating them felt like an anticlimax...

Those are good thoughts! I've been trying to sort out a lot of this in my head too, but here are just a few things

I agree about the voice; it sounds like it could maybe be a Silent speaking, but I'm not sure... it also sounds a bit like Prisoner Zero. Maybe Prisoner Zero masterminded all of this and that's why it's locked up? I mean, to be Prisoner number 0 has to be important - the one who was in before all the others?

I thought at first the suits were wet, slimey - and the Silents do seem a bit amphibious with those flipper-like hands... but protective colouring makes a lot of sense, actually.

Maybe regeneration suppressed the memories. It's bizarre. Then again, maybe she's been told as a child by the future!Doctor that she has to pretend not to recognise it... I don't know.

All great points. I think there are a lot of things we are taking for granted as "fact" that very well may not be and Moff is counting on that. The Silents have been assumed by many to be the ones who originally kidnapped Amy and replaced her with a ganger. We don't know that for sure. We also don't know for sure that the little girl in the suit is River.

Rory was listening through the nano-recorder to Amy cry because it was dark and she was scared. Consider this: she was asleep (and a ganger) so since that was her consciousness that Rory was lostening to, she may not have been experiencing where the Silents has taken her, but was actually experiencing Demons Run in the dark.

Another unresolved comment: the Silents tell Amy she will be honored for bringong the Silence, but her part was almost over. It sounds like they are talking about River/Melody. And the mysterious voice in the TARDIS was triumphantly shouting "Silence will fall!" as it trapped River. Is she somehow being called Silence? (Silents)

I agree - the Moff is definitely going to put us through the loop a few times before we find out. Good point about the nano-recorder! I wonder if the Silents knew that she was a ganger then? Hm...

It's so confusing, but I love it XD.
