Things to note:

· I'm 39 now. This is a very good thing, and sure beats the alternative. I had clinicals the actual day, and then I followed it up with the traditional Japanese dinner with friends. It was a very casual sort of thing--given the kind of busy that I've been with school, I did no real advance planning for it. I'll have to do something ( Read more... )

I love what you have to say about translators. I was very bummed when three of the people who didn't make it through last semester where two guys who spoke English as a second language -- one guy from Nigeria and another from Somalia -- because they'd have been great nurses and the nursing profession and the people who count on us need nurses like them.

So... Next year at Wiscon?

It's just so damn important, and so easily ignored by anyone who doesn't navigate in multiple languages.

And yeah, I hope next year. I miss it like whoa.

This post is important in so many ways, not least that I read it and am reminding myself that you are thirty-nine, which is not that much older than I am, and you have been metamorphosing for the past few years, and if it's okay for you then maybe just maybe it is okay for me. Then jerkbrain starts up again, but you are doing something vastly important and doing it mindfully, and it reflects.

Happy birthday, and I hope that thirty-nine is excellent. It's a number I like because it's 13*3.
