Slept in. Had chai, gingerbread cake, and satsuma oranges for breakfast. Am settling in to watch the Lord of the Rings DVDs while folding laundry. There's leftover Indian food for lunch (masoor dal! saag paneer!) and there'll be chili (made with beans from my garden) simmering on the stove this afternoon. It looks like today is going to be a very quiet day, a prospect that in some years I would find dispiriting but that this year I am finding restful. Apples and honey to all who celebrate.

1. I slept for much of the morning and spent the rest of it in my jammies.

I had a lovely Thanksgiving; renenet was visiting, of course, and a bunch of my local friends came over as well, so we had nine people here for dinner - I had to borrow chairs and silverware from some of them and bring up the card table from the basement.

In just a few minutes I am going to go into my kitchen and make squash soup with sage and gingered cranberry sauce as the start of my contributions to tomorrow's dinner.

Well, the sourdough starter's not going anywhere and I've got pork in the freezer, but on the other hand tonight's soup includes vinegar, celery, and some stuff that I'm fairly sure counts as bitter herbs; and I've got hard-boiled eggs in the fridge.

Not bad for a shiksa ex-girlfriend.
