farewell to The Grumpy Plushie

...but it's a happy farewell, I promise!

Some of you may recall that when I was away from home last spring I took Toby and Theo along with me while The Grumpy Plushie stayed behind with my housesitter. He and his fiancee both took a liking to The GP, and she in turn became very fond of them. She also became VERY fond of having TWO minions and NO annoying boy cats around. So when the boys and I came home, I discovered that, alas, she was 5000% done with all of us. I mean, she was still a very sweet cat, but she was mad at the boys ALL THE TIME and mad at me for bringing them back. It was not a happy situation.

I told my housesitter, only half-joking, that he could have The GP if he wanted her. And he and his fiancee consulted and said they would LOVE to have her. So after they moved into their new house, I took The GP over, expecting that there would be at least a bit of initial hiding under or behind things.

Nope.

We let her out of the carrier; she took a few tentative steps out of it, looked around, and then promptly trotted off, tail held high, to investigate everything. She worked her way about halfway round the house and ended up back in the living room en route to the other half. We took her into the kitchen to show her where her dishes were, and then down to the basement to see the litter box. She did a bit more exploring... and then she came back to the living room to sprawl on the floor and purr, looking utterly pleased with herself. As well she might: there are NO BOY KITTIES and TWO MINIONS in a house that is ALL HERS and has EXCELLENT WINDOWSILLS.

I am fond of The GP and will miss her, but I am thrilled that I was able, at long last, to provide her with the solo-cat home and adoring humans that she deserves. Reports suggest that she has spent the last several days lolling around in sunbeams purring and being petted, which I think is exactly as it should be.
