Charlotte died yesterday. I got 40 dollars out of her, which was gone in a split second because I’m incapable of saving money. I couldn’t throw her away so she is now resting in Shakespeare’s garden. At least until the custodial services get rid of her.
On to other things. Novelist should not write screenplays. They have no sense of timing, objectivity, characters or cutting. They have no idea how to write a movie. I’m reading the Business of Fancydancing, a screenplay by Sherman Alexie, and it reads like a novel with LOTS of dialogue and a painful format. Of course, I’ll keep reading because Sherman Alexie is one of my favorite authors and I’ll forgive him anything, but I really need to get my hands on the film just to see how his annoying-to-read screenplay came out. And I just discovered that the library have a really good collection of Octavia E. Butler books so I guess I’ll be reading her for most of the summer.
In these past few weeks, I have come to one conclusion. We need to have a party in my Town House, but a corny party with a theme like Harry Potter or purple. Not that Harry Potter or purple are corny but you know. I think multiple corny parties will make this summer of work worthwhile.
