"A bit of earth..." at the Cabaret Party!

Ladies and gentlemen, I am not angry at Michelle Knight.

Yes, I was greatly disappointed that she was unable to attend last night's Cabaret Party due to performances at the Whoop-de-Doo Revue.  I'm pretty sure she would have rather been at the Orlando Rep allowing me to serenade her with a new dedication.  Oh well...there's always March.

The Cabaret Party was pretty fantastic--a nice, large turnout with lots of talented folk singing.  I gave a Cabaret Party "repeat" when I sang "A Bit of Earth" from The Secret Garden (I totally wasn't planning to do it--but Rick had the music, and Luerne was desperate for performers, so I decided to do it).  Last time I did this number for Cabaret Party, I was nervous and didn't do it justice.  Last night, I think I did it justice and then some.  It was nice to come back to the table and have Steve Miller say: "I always enjoy sitting here and being reminded what a great voice you have."

You see, a lot of people are used to my character singing--putting on a different voice and going with it.  But really, I have the ability to sing "normally" and I sadly don't get that opportunity too much.  Well, thank goodness for the Cabaret Parties.

So, at last night's Cabaret Party was the aforementioned Mr. Miller as well as David Almeida.  It's always fantastic to catch up with these two.  And then there's Ashleigh Drake Teicher, who believe it or not, dusted off one of those Jason Robert Brown tunes, and sang it with a friend of hers.  I'm always excited when Ashleigh branches out and sings new material...(Can anyone sense the sarcasm?  Ashleigh?)

Anyway, I will be at SETC, kids!  I will be a timekeeper on Friday and a general gopher on Saturday and Sunday.  Good times!

Happy 21st Birthday, Justin Sargent!  Sadly, I won't be able to attend his festivities at City Walk today.  I'm sure it will be fabulous even without me!

XOXO!

P.S.  Ute Lemper makes me hot.
