Still coming to the canyon

Vyzygoth continues interviewing McGowan (1) and McGowan adds two more installments (2 3) to his latest series, which he now believes will run to 12 installments. I kind of figured Vyz would raise a certain topic, and now that he has I think I'll address it a bit. As I do so, I recommend McGowan's conspiracy theory series (4 5 6). Not all theories ( Read more... )

Raw food demonstration helios June 8 2008, 14:21:50 UTC
Friday night I checked out some more raw food. This is definitely an acquired taste, but it is a variation on vegetarian eating, and these recipes are pretty interesting.

Chocolate banana soft serve:

2 frozen bananas
2 heaping T raw cacao powder
2 T agave nectar

Carrot avocado soup (all soups in the raw food diet are cold--but extra turns in the vita-mix will heat them, though if they end up cooking they aren't raw anymore, to state the obvious ( ... )

June 7: Rubicon Trail helios June 8 2008, 14:22:45 UTC
Okay, I finally got out on a hike. This hike is one of the most popular ones I lead but only two people joined me this time. I think the weather has been so weird, and it's still a bit cooler than usual, so maybe that scared people off. I think there will be a few, very few, pics I can link to in a week or so.

Organic uncorked--a little wine tasting event Saturday night helios June 8 2008, 14:30:09 UTC
This is usually an Earth Day related event but it was delayed this year for some reason. Just a quick word on some of the more interesting wines, as I recall:

Ceago cabernet sauvignon

Elderton unwooded chardonnay

Parducci pinot noir

Montevina zinfandel

Covey Run gewurtztraminer

That should be enough of that. I was a bit tired after the hike. I saw a few of my hikers there, but not on my hike!
