there's a good chance that i'll be getting a job in dundee, working in the mcmanus galleries -the towns museum and art gallery. it's a full-time and permanent job, which is good, and the pay -considering how basic the job is- is also good.
maybe dundee is a disadvantage? i'm not sure. it's definitely underwhelming on first impressions.
the mcmanus galleries themselves; well it's about the best building in the whole of the town, victorian gothic, whatever. for the last few years it's been closed to get a facelift, makeover, refurbished, renovated, all that. £12million, i was told. inside is ..well, when i was there last week for the interview it was still closed but some of the stuff was in place, and looking clean and shiney. they had an orange and green thing going on in the entrance hall.
mam phoned me a couple of times. she and dad have volunteered to help me find a place to live in the town, just as they did when i was going to be moving up here. back then they were in newcastle and i was miles away in the midlands. i looked at adverts and got in contact with people. i then set up some appointments for mam and dad to go to, since they were living so much nearer than i was.
relying on their judgement was a strange thing.
i've got to rely on their judgement again, and this is going to be just as strange.
mam told me they'll look through adverts, contact the people, and set up the appointments, although it's going to be me going to dundee to have a look around at these places and meet the people. and live there.
