there hasn't exactly been definitive confirmation of me being given the job in dundee, but i'm confident that it's going to happen. like 99% or something. the medical only had one tick in the yes column -for hay fever. the references should be a doddle, and the disclosure i got from the nhs had nothing bad written on it about me.
this week i've been to newhailes -for the last time as an irregular volunteer. i've also been one last time to the filmhouse -seeing 'still walking', a japanese film. and i went to the royal lyceum, using their offer of £1 tickets for people who can prove that they are unemployed. the current show is 'the beauty queen of leenane', and it was pretty good. it said bleak and hilarious on the flier, but didn't seem to be so extreme to me. i've been for the last time to the royal edinburgh hospital, and was given a certificate of thanks, a chocolate rabbit, and a cardboard box (which i asked for, for packing things in to help me move). tomorrow it'll be my last trip to the georgian house, and on friday morning the plan is to finally complete the induction training for the historic scotland volunteer ranger service at holyrood park. they'll give me a t-shirt! (i've not let on that i'm leaving the city)
then again, i can always come back, it's only 1:40 on the buses, or an hour on the train.. if someone else is paying. you get used to train travel when you can claim it back on expenses.
saturday i was up in dundee to go flat-hunting. and i found a really nice place, so i signed the contract, paid the deposit, and should be moving in there on saturday; friday evening my parents come up here. pack the car, drive off. crocodile dundee? bonnie dundee? who knows.
