A lovely evening
I have to post about the good bits when they happen because they feel quite few and far between at the moment!
I managed to finish my boring, horrible, tedious assignment just before teatime. What an enormous relief to print it out, slot it in its plastic wallet and close the folder on it! I can hand it in tomorrow and forget about it altogether now. Phew!
Then we drove to Nantwich to drop L3 off on the Beavers hike. Because she was getting invested at the end, we only had an hour before we had to pick her up again, so instead of driving home and back again (which is 15 minutes each way) we went to Morrisons for cheap(ish) petrol - for some reason Nantwich petrol is cheaper than Crewe petrol even though Nantwich is a richer town in general than Crewe! Bizarre, but as we were there anyway, I took advantage and filled the tank up again. Then we drove round to the Barony Park which is an enormous field with a play area, skate park, football cage etc. and One and Two went off by themselves to the play area while I sat for a blissful half an hour in the car on my own with my ipod plugged in to the cassette deck! The kids (who had a whale of a time and got on like a house on fire for once) knew where I was if they needed me but that wasn't necessary and so I had actual, real solitude, with nothing else to do but listen to music. It seems like forever since I had that kind of guilt free space, even for half an hour!
When it was time, I called them back to the car and we went round to watch L3 be invested as a Beaver. Lovely to have the ceremony in the open air and she was so happy. :-) A very kind ice cream man then gave all of the Beavers an ice cream for free - and when I went to buy one for One and Two, he said 'no, put your money away', gave them one and gave me one as well! What a lovely surprise!
Home, bed for everyone and I'm now waiting for Tesco to deliver some shopping, and trying to muster up the energy to do the ironing I want to do before tomorrow. I know I'll enjoy it once I start!
