the weather's been so nice the past few days that i haven't known what to do with myself. my room smells like spring now, instead of stuffy-ness. i definetly don't have seasonal affective disorder or anything, cause i love winter, but beautiful spring days (even when i know it'll snow again before it stays nice) just put me in a great mood. my college had something called may term (trimester system), and a common college saying was, may term is play term. that's because for the last month of school, everyone just has one class, usually meeting for two or three hours every morning, and then you're free for the rest of the day. most may term classes aren't too hard. i took intro to film in may term, so it was a couple of hours of lecture, then a movie every day. my other may term classes were short story, england: a literary tour, and women in literature. in may term, everyone sits outside on blankets to do homework. people play frisbee and catch outside of their dorms. the campus is less crowded, because a lot of may term classes travel (that's when i went to england first). you do fun things with your friends, like go on walks, go to garage sales, plan 80s proms, go out in the middle of the week... no one stresses out or is too busy to do fun things in may term. may term=spring.
it feels like may term out. i'll miss school during may term.
in other warm-weather related news, i'm going to a music festival this summer, for the... sixth year in a row. it's a lot of the same bands every year, but i'm deciding this year, it's definetly worth it again because (aside from camping out with old college friends) a couple of my favorite live bands will be there. you've never heard of them, i'm sure. i just discovered holland last year (oo, that makes me sound like an explorer. i like it). and bleach, well, they're just an incredible amount of fun live. i would go just to see those two bands. i almost got to see them both, totally unexpectedly, a few months ago. my friend julia was trying to talk me into going to see five iron frenzy, as it was their last tour before breaking up. i'm not a huge fan of theirs, but then, she off-handedly mentioned who they were touring with. of course, the bands she named were holland, bleach, and... some other band i love. we didn't end up going because it was too far away and she student taught the next day, but it would've been a great show. i'll see them this summer anyway. summer music fest. woo! i have such a great summer planned...
