He hadn't seen her arrive, but Annatar knew that the woman had only just come to the village. Besides her confusion and speaking to someone who wasn't there, he'd have noticed anyone who looked (inside and out) like her.
"Annatar, of Eregion. But this is not there. This is Haurvatat." He half-bowed. "Welcome."
"It is nothing like that village, I'm sure. It is a place outside of time and space as we know it where I come from. When those of us who were brought here look at the stars, no one can identify them." No one knows this place.
"It is called Haurvatat, as I said, but as far as I know, no one here has any idea of how to get here from other places. Magic brings us here, else technology so advanced it may as well be magic."
She has power and will not scoff at the use of the word magic, as some might. I've never met anyone with her sort of power before.
Annatar did not want to feel what was in that staff: he was being a good Elf here and didn't deserve it. Nerves could make people act strangely.
"People think of this village in different ways. I find it a pleasant enough place to pass the time." He shrugged and the corner of his mouth quirked up. "I'm older than I appear and there are many new things here that I find interesting. Even people are not as I know them back at home."
"They killed my mother and father. They seek to destroy our home for their material gain. They steal and lie and ruin everyone who trusts them." Maleficent said bitterly.
She took a deep breath to calm herself. Her chin lifted as she she recovered her composure. "So," she said. "I have been abducted. Very well. How far am I from home?" she asked, still not yet connecting all the dots.
"Humans where I come from can fear us, but they wouldn't kill us." They wouldn't dare kill the Elves. "I am sorry that they killed your parents."
He didn't actually feel it, but he thought it would be possible to care if he knew her like he knew Draco, so it wasn't a complete lie.
"No one knows how far. Distance means nothing here. Time means nothing." He gave one of his elegant shrugs. "It's said that time does not pass at home while we're here. You'll return to the time and place you left."
"People do leave," he said. "Not, as far as I know, of their own doing."
He did not think that Adam (or Felecia) had left of his own accord. Some more powerful beings might have, but he was unaware of any who had chosen to leave.
"We are here until allowed to go, or returned. Some people know that they will be going while others do not." It wouldn't matter that much to him, although he would be sorry not to say goodbye to Draco and tease him one last time. "I care little for how long I stay here, as my life is longer than most."
"I'm not sure what that means. My race is the Eldar, which means Elves in the common speech." He'd heard the term faerie in his reading.
"What are faerie?" He'd also heard 'fairies', which was not the same thing. No more than he was a little being that made toys for the Earth Christmas holiday.
"Faerie are... faerie," she said, both as if trying to put to words what instinct simply knew. "We make berries grow sweet, or water run pure or to mud as our natures and the needs of the land require. Some put the dew on the leaves in the morning or help the trees grow taller every spring..."
She glanced around at the pretty well magic-less (seeming) village and felt an urge to run until she made it home.

"Where am I? This looks nothing like the village around Stefan's castle..."

That keeps happening.

"But who? And why?" She clutched her staff to her chest.

"Do you like it here? Living among humans... and do they not try to kill you?"

"They do not try to kill me at all. Why would they?" He was confused. "Do humans try to kill you in your world?"

She was not Eldar--he would know that. All he could tell was that he had never seen anyone with power like hers before.
"The humans are from different times and places. It makes them more interesting than the ones I'm used to."
