How to stop the bang (OTA)

Jan 20, 2014 12:09

At noon, Chris sits at a small corner table in the café, an open book propped up on a pair of salt and pepper shakers and a pad and pen lying next to his plate of pasta.

He was surprised to find information on explosives and bombs so readily available at the library, but he's glad about it. It's not often you get the chance to read up on the stuff when you actually need to know how to disarm a bomb. So he'll be damned if he doesn't make use of the chance to learn. So far what he's read has not prompted any eureka shouts, though, and his pad is still empty.

He puts his fork down to turn a page of the book. Maybe the next chapter will contain more helpful information. But before he starts reading it, he lets his gaze roam around the café and the good amount of people having lunch here today. He's seen a few of the faces before, but in passing only, he doesn't even know their names. He really ought to get to know some more people, he thinks, but for now he lowers his eyes to the book again. First things first. He picks up his fork as he resumes his reading.

(Feel free to interrupt him.)
