A dwarf, a hairy beast, and a wall walk into an alehouse... [Arrival, OTA]

There had been so much he had wanted to do. So many things in the next 150 years that he had wanted to complete and experience. Fili had come so far with the others, facing many perils with his comrades, evading evils he had never seen up till volunteering for uncle Thorin and ultimately leaving the Mountain. Amidst all of the thoughts that travelled through his mind after being impaled through the chest by a large crude-looking Orc sword while defending his fallen uncle, there was a certain calmness as his knees smacked the ground, the rest of his body follow suit and coming to a rest on his back. Blue eyes looked up at the all too-bright blue sky, well aware of what had just happened and the journey that was quickly being set before him.

The gaping hole in his chest was sticky and red, crimson starting to spread across the front of his tunic and drip down his sides underneath. The sounds of battle all around him were muted and muffled, though occasionally he could vaguely feel the vibration of a step or two close to his proximity, but everyone and everything left him alone, melting into the background. It was nearly impossible to draw a breath but Fili knew somewhere in the back of his bleary mind that very soon he would have no need for air.

Blinking once slowly, he resisted the urge to squint as what he could only assume was the sun, shined down fiercely on him. The numbness and cold he had felt now melted into a benevolent tender warmth that seemed to soak into the core of his soul, allowing him to pay no attention to the fact that the muffled sounds of battle were slowly changing into the welcoming murmurs of his ancestors and Durin's Folk who had passed before him, the sight of the too-bright sky was replaced by nothingness as Fili simply just let himself be.

Sensation came back full throttle in the form of something smearing wet all over the left side of his face as well as the distinctly pungent smell of beef mixed with chicken. Pulling a half a face, Fili squirmed half heartedly, reaching over to blindly push at whatever it was that kept interrupting his sleep.

Stubby calloused fingers felt the mounds soft warm fur a second before his eyes finally opened and he found himself face-to-snout with a gigantic hairy beast. Shouting out in surprise, Fili jerked his head instinctively from the drooling hairy mess, the back of it rapping against the wall behind him sharply as a result. With a startled yelp of its own, the dog jumped back in surprise and ran away down the cobblestone street.

With a half a grunt, Fili straightened from the abusive wall and rubbed the back of his sore head. Squinting out across the dark street he was sitting on, Fili noted the bits of unnatural light here and there and wondered just what the hell was going on.
