I knew they were brave...

But I never expected a single ship to sacrifice itself for the entire task force. Red had left the Crimson Rhapsody a few days before, and we were almost to the Rim/Omega Centauri jump gate. There was an entire Imperial battle group waiting for us. They didn't have the right access codes to activate the Gate, but they knew we would have to use it sooner or later. They ambushed us, damaging most of my ships, and nearly destroying a few.

My ships fought bravely and honorably, but we were outnumbered three to one and fighting back a suprise attack. The strike cruiser, Shining Sword took a bad hit that destroyed its jump drives. Several of the larger ships could have towed the Shining Sword through the jump gate, but Captain Sorel refused. The last I saw of him was his face as he personally brought his ship around to face the enemy group, and said, "Give me ramming speed."

Moments later, his triggered the self destruct on the Shining Sword's reactor, taking out several of the opposing ships. His actions allowed the rest of my ships to reach safety on the Isian side of the gate.

Rigiy aglekir bir vew diefirrweb, Xlorlub Sorel.
