Photos from The Birthday Massacre @ Manning Bar, 21/11
Taken my damn time to post these, I know, but the gig fell right at the time of the first computer meltdown, so they weren't really a priority amidst the general attempt to recover from that. Now that I'm in the middle of rebuilding after the second one the other day, I decided I should probably finally post these. I make no claims to their greatness, but I think they're not too bad.
As for the show: I missed the Medicated's opening set apart from their last song. Mz Ann Thropik I found kind of impenetrable, which was a disappointment cos I'd quite liked them as the Blue Moon Band Massacre night in September. The Birthday Massacre were fucking tremendous. They played for about 80 minutes, rocked mightily all that time, and showed not a single sign of the fatigue they were apparently rotten with. Made a fortune on T-shirt and CD sales afterwards, apparently, and no doubt made a lot of new fans in the process. Of course, the most remarkable thing about the gig-which was an all-ages affair-was how young most of the crowd was. I just remember a sea of faces most of whom were about half my age. I can't remember the last time I've felt so old at a gig like this before...
