The walls in our bedroom are a pale lavender. When the morning sun strikes them it is a gentle strike, a thin sheen that gathers upthe shadows and tucks them away.
The room is usualy warm from the clothes dryer in the corner, but today we wake up chilly, paying penance for leaving the windows open to the cool night air.
Things to do today: write up new leases for all of the teneants, find annual safety sheet for rental building, install new locks in vacant apartment, clean out junk tenant conveniently left behind, buy milk, eggs and juice, hang up apartment for rent sign and trim weeds back in rental building lot.
We start the day with kisses and spooning.. Charlie's skin is warm against my bare back. He says my nose is cold and it is true. We read in bed for a little while. Charlie trying vainlyto finish a sentence as I continualy inturrupt him to share tidbits from the landlord book I am reading.
We go for our morning walk. Today we walk down past the post office to get the mail. It is only two houses down so we don't have a mailbox. This is a small town, a village really and the post office actualy closes for lunch. We won't even speak of the library which is only open two days a week.
Back from the walk I change from my sweater to a tee shirt and make us breakfast while Charlie call his sister.
Eggs over easy and toast.
After breakfast Charlie has to go to Home Depot. and I volunteer to stay home to write up a new tenant rule's guide. I wash the dishes and start typing away. Charlie is leaving and we jokingly wish each other a good day at work.
A few hours later my bee arrives home and our neighbor Tracy and her son Ben stop by to see if we want to take a walk. Charlie says yes but I am not quite done yet and call off.
Soon I am done and lonesome. I nail a board back in place on the roof and play with the cat. Due to Mike's influence I have been calling her meowser towser. Her real name is mewla but we also call her white thing.
Charlie is still not back from his walk so I start off into the woods to meet them coming back.
Ever notice that when you are by yourself in the woods everything looks so different? So fake even. Like if you were to walk upto a tree and knock it wouldbe rubber covered concrete or something similarly stupid. As if you are on the set to a movie you knew nothing about.
Anyways I meet Charlie, Tracy , Ben and his grandmother Meg coming back, I leap into Charlie's arms, secure in their strength. Happy to bask in his love.
