Hazel Wand and the mystery of the disappearing debit card. Plus spoilers for How I Met Your Mother

Hi all. Extra hellos to new friends. Please don't be scared off by the following post!

Yesterday I said that the medication is giving me hot flushes. Well, I'm pretty sure it also affects my concentration and general capacity to function like a human being (that or not sleeping much because of hot flushes is). Today I took my debit card out of my purse and stuck it in the pocket of my skirt so that I could buy lunch at the canteen. I bought my sandwich, ate it, went to the loo, started afternoon lessons. And then realised that I didn't know where my debit card was.

At the end of the day I searched my classroom, retraced my steps, checked it hadn't been handed in anywhere and finally cancelled my card, knowing that the bugger would turn up as soon as I cancelled it. Sure enough, half an hour later I sat down and felt something ... odd. My debit card had ended up IN MY TIGHTS. And I'd asked so many people if they'd seen it that people were asking if it had shown up. I lied, naturally, and have confessed only to Mr Wand and now to you guys. So hi, new friends. Congratulations on friending the girl who loses her debit card in her underwear. *headdesk*

Tonight I saw the finale of HIMYM, a show I have loved for ages. It was bittersweet and the end of something which has been a constant for me for a long time. Even Mr Wand understood the gravity and accepted that he was not allowed to talk during it.

If you follow the show, you'll know that plenty of people have thought for a long time that the Mother was dead. And that had been fairly obviously hinted at a few episodes ago. But, naively, I really thought that had to be a trick. Even though, when you rewatch the very first episode, it is pretty clear that Robin is Ted's endgame. Just like watching the first episode of Friends sets up what will happen in the final episode.

Sigh. I never guess these plot twists. During the run of HP I kind of shook my head at all the 'Harry's a horcrux!' 'Snaps loves Lily' theories, thinking 'Nah, that can't be it.' I suppose writers are human and with all the fans and all the theories, some people are bound to guess ahead of time. In which case I am a bit disappointed that the Ron=Dumbledore theory didn't come true. That one had time travel and red hair on its side.

On the plus side, Mr Wand made dinner tonight. We ate it on the balcony in the sun, then Mr Wand went and bought ice cream for us, so I'm going to count today as a win.
