We have finally got the chance to watch the
TV adaptation of The Colour of magic/The Light Fantastic, shown on Sky over Easter Weekend.
I had been unconvinced by the decision to let David Jason have his wish to play the inept wizard Rincewind, as he is too old and not skinny enough to portray the character as canon, but he did manage to capture the essence of the role really well. The story was much abridged, but then that is what happens when retelling a story on stage or film - wouldn't it be good if the success of the two stories done so far meant that the next time they could stretch to a serialisation?
We had the added fun of looking out for a couple of our friends, who were in it as "citizens of Ank-Morpork" - ironically it was their wedding that we were at when the first episode was aired.
Trust
tanoti to manage to get a full screen head shot all to himself! (those who don't know him in person might know him as the character based on him - Dr Hicks - in
Making Money)
I am hoping that a side effect of the film will be a rush of people buying my surplus Pratchett books on
GreenMetropolis.com - like after Hogfather was shown last year.
