Spring!

Apr 22, 2008 12:30

The busyness of the last month seems to be continuing - anyone would think it was spring! (aaaaaah chooo!)

My Oyster card has had another couple of outings:

A week ago we were in London armed with tickets to see the King Tut Exhibition at the O2, including treating tjprent's mum and dad in honour of her birthday. These presents that are not 'things' seem to be going down very well. I also took the chance to make the most of the fare and go in earlier to spend my accumulated bar tips on vegan make up from B, along with getting a few more tips on how to apply it.

The exhibition is much recommended, though be aware that the first half of it is more about his relations than him, but seeing things in the flesh - even through glass - is much better than on the discovery channel! I even learned stuff - despite watching many documentaries while I was in the depths of my break-down.

There was also a spontaneous trip out to introduce my In Laws to the virtually vegan restaurant 222, when it was found that the pizza express in the O2 was queueing out the door with wrestling fans when we emerged from the Tut gift shop (full of tat, theme park style). One taste of the food and they agreed it was worth the journey.

Saturday morning and I was strolling down to the tube station again. With tjprent busy with his Other Railway, I was off to meet up with dragonsrule for a girly day out.

Goal No. One was for her to go and inspect the newly restored St. Pancras Station, and I found it interesting to do this with some-one with a different perspective than the last time. We then popped round the corner to the canal museum - where I seem to be becoming a bit of a regular! I don't mind - without the kids I could pay more attention to some of the more adult geared displays that they were bored by.

After lunch at the Inspiral Lounge by Camden Lock, and the surprise of seeing a cormorant with a huge eel that it was having trouble eating, it was so big, we set off on our second goal of the day - a visit to Ham house. This regency house, set in a green estate on the banks of the Thames was a marked contrast from the centre of Town - and yet so close to it!

==================

With relocation on our minds - though as yet with all the uncertainty of not knowing when or where we would be going - it is good to be making the best of where we live while we do. With the joy of being firmly in the beautiful Chiltern Hundred, and the opportunities of being in walking distance of the zone 9 (yes, nine) tube station, there is much life to be living.
