Good outweighs the bad ... but bad is still annoying

Good thing of the week:
- At a team holiday luncheon (catered by contracting companies making a mint off this client), my senior manager spoke with the hosting contracting company recruiters and sang my praises to the skies, hauled me over for introductions, whereupon the recruiters promptly buried me with their business cards and resume requests. Then my immediate supervisor, not knowing what his boss had already done, went up to the same recruiters and did the same thing. This time I got hauled over to eat lunch with them and be cross-examined on skillsets, experience, wants, hates, etc. Nice ego-boo. Let's see if it results in anything.
- I have people looking out for me. It's a wonderful feeling.
- Papercut from business cards has stopped stinging.

Good things today:
- As expected, the accident damage is apparently restricted to just the rear bumper, so no worries about the car being totalled from hidden frame damage. Appointment made for next Monday for dropoff at the body shop in exchange for a rental.
- The adjustor's office is only a mile from a Krispy Kreme, and when I drove by the HOT light was lit ... so I picked up two boxes to take back from the office. Hot Krispy Kremes make the world better.
- Found out that there at least one Sonny's BBQ in Atlanta is still open.
- One tea order was delivered today. The other should be in on Monday.
- Teammates took me out to "surprise" lunch (not that I needed it, having had Krispy Kreme less than an hour before)
- Utterly adorable child at the restaurant provided much entertainment for the adults (including this childless-by-choice doting Auntie)
- Carload of coworkers fell in love with the Bonhoff's _Aliens Ate My Homework_ CD on the way to and from lunch.
- Tomorrow is my last day on this job

Bad things today:
- Overslept by 90 minutes because alarm clock didn't go off
- Learned that the alarm clock battery backup doesn't kick in when power goes out
- Power outage started 15 minutes into the bread baking cycle, ruining beyond-salvage-as-edible the bread loaf I'd set up the night before in hopes of having a piping hot fresh loaf first thing when I woke up (and leftovers to take to the office).
- Never did get around to installing a generator to run the well pump when the power is out, so, no shower or breakfast or the like.
- Dressing in the dark = putting on mismatched socks and the wrong set of pants.
- Left the house 80 minutes later than expected for pre-work appointment with insurance adjustor.
- 4" of rain in 1.5 days has washed huge gouges into the driveway. Another day or two and I'll need 4x4 or high clearance to get into my own garage. Must talk to neighbor about having him smooth it out again (part of the deal, in exchange for letting him put his deer stands up in our woods)
- Heavy rains turned a 1-hour drive into a 2.5-hour drive
- Sonny's, while open as in "didn't get shut down", was not open as in serving-lunch-for-the-day.
- Matrix-team-Manager being an chest-thumping dictator/martyr and not taking it well when I stayed reasonable, calm and most frustrating and unfortunately for her, *correct*. She's one of my customers that I need to keep happy, "within reason" {yes I have a lot of discretion in defining "reasonable", and usually I define it to the "customer's" advantage}. This week she is not even on the same continent, much less sharing a zip code with, "reason". She will likely complain to my manager and I will likely receive a mini-lecture on Needing To Draw The Line Sooner and Spoiling The Users and Creating Unrealistic Expectations. Admittedly, I deserve it.
- Don't have a new job lined up, nor any solid prospects.
- I'm still at the office working on transition stuff.

Saturday is oh so going to be sleep-in-day if I have any say about it. I plan to stack the odds in my favor by putting out extra cat food the night before :)
