One thing that gets on my nerves?

Any pairing story which is an AU, which means that the character who is 'in the way'  of the author's OTP does not necessarily have to be in the story (since the story is an AU), yet the author decides to include him/her, just so that she can have a whole chapter dedicated to bashing that character.
