Hey Death Note fandom! You know the girl who managed to track down Kira before anyone else could? You don't? How about the cute blonde girl who's always hanging off of Light's arm? Still no, huh. Okay fine. How about the dumb whore? Now you know who I'm talking about! Misa Misa anyone?
Well let me tell you something. Amane Misa is not dumb, and she is not a whore. She managed to track down Kira before L could, and yes she had the help of things magical but still. It's an accomplishment. Light is using her, yes, and if she weren't aware of that that would earn her stupid points, but she is. What Misa wants is to serve him and love him as best as he can, because he avenged the deaths of her parents. And because she's just plain smitten. That doesn't make her stupid. We may not respect her goals, but she does accomplish them, and it takes intelligence to do so. If she were really as dumb as the fandom seems to think she is, she wouldn't even have a place in the story. She'd never have been able to figure out how to find Kira in the first place.
Also, where are you getting this slut business? Misa is madly in love with Light, if she's having sex with anyone it's him and him alone. And I seriously doubt she's having sex with Light in canon. Either way, she loves him way too much to sleep around, and she's very proper about this sort of thing. Remember how she flipped her shit when Light said he'd date other girls? Remember when she told the director that she couldn't do a kissing scene because she had a boyfriend? How about how she refuses to model nude, despite the cash she could probably make doing that? Misa is most likely a virgin, and even if she isn't, she clearly equates sex with love. She wouldn't do it with anybody but her beloved Light. (Not saying you can't pair Misa with someone else, I'm a huge advocate of crack-pairings, I just say this to explain that Misa's not a whore!)
Seriously, give the girl a break. She has her moments, yes, but who doesn't? Considering the fact that her parents were murdered in front of her eyes, I'm surprised that she's not a psychotic disaster. She's functional. Despite her age she's supporting herself with her modelling work, and she's accomplishing almost everything she intends to. Personally I think Misa is a remarkable young woman, and even if you don't agree, please at least understand that she's not a brain-dead prostitute.
(On that note, Matsuda isn't stupid either. He's a fanboy who's in a good mood most of the time, but why would Yagami have chosen him to go to the international conference with him if he were incompetant? He's also the only one who bothers to question the official stance on the Kira case--thinking for yourself is a sign of intelligence, is it not? Please, fandom, stop comparing everybody's brains to those of Light and L. They're geniuses. Being normal doesn't make you a blithering idiot.)
