I went out drinking last night, which provided me with a helpful reminder of why I don't go out drinking anymore. Wine, beer, chocolate chip cookies and loneliness are a bad combination.
On the plus side, I spent some time with an old friend today. She's one of those truly decent, generous and friendly people I always wish I could emulate. We were supposed to go for a walk, but instead drove to some scenic locations along the coast, then had tomato soup, tea and a nice chat.
Then, I called my mother for Mother's Day. I almost forgot!
