The tyranny of the minutae

Well, I was torn between the duty to update my LJ once in a while and my aversion to writing a boring entry.

My life is measured in bran and beans
Muffins and chili
Oatmeal and chocolate chips
Haunt my dreams

Hmmm ... that not bad for the spur of the moment. Okay, so maybe it was. I made chocolate chip oatmeal cookies this evening and the chili will be ready by tomorrow morning. Crockpots are wonderful. But the cookies ... excellent! The best batch in a long time. Last night I made blueberry, bran and flax muffins. Now you know why I am a regular guy.

I'll be moving out in less than a month, so as I run out of ingredients and as I pack up my appliances, my cooking life will suffer. I think I will pack the crockpot tomorrow.

I am torn between staying and attending convocation or leaving early for a job interview. The job looks good, but I find it hard to justify flying there for the interview, back for convocation, then back out again for the job. Convocation and the graduation party may be the last time I see some of my classmates, so I don't want to miss it. That is the peril of a university program so far from home. Sigh! Well, I'll have to decide soon.

Other than that, packing is slow and boring. At least when school was on, my day was a mad rush. Now, it is a mad quagmire. I should be used to this. I have moved six times in the past four years, going on seven.

I found a fellow baker here. We made a carrot cake last weekend, and next up will be a mocha toffee chocolate cake, though I need to find a recipe. Any suggestions are gratefully accepted.
