So I just watched the trailer for Watchmen and it looks, surpisingly, spot on.  At least, all the things in the preview were things that are actually IN the graphic novel, which is always a good sign.  I was a little worried that someone decided to make the movie after hearing a brief plot summary and thought, "Anti-heroes?  They are so HOT right now!"  Also, Rorschach's voice was perfect and his mask successfully gave me the willies.  Nite Owl looks a lot cooler than he's supposed to though; he's supposed to be middle-aged and slightly tubby, but he was all muscular and jumping around and being cool.  Maybe the muscles were just part of his suit.  So, we'll see.

My main concern has not been addressed, though, and probably won't until the movie's out, and that is that the director/producer/whatever uses it as a Super Big Political Statement, and I HATE IT when they make movies that are based off something and change it to fit their own political agendas.  GAH.  There are political aspects to Watchmen, but how much do you want to bet that they completely abandon the aspect of it being an alternate version of the 80's, and instead turn it into an alternate version of now and make their Super Big Political Statement about whatever they feel like?  If they actually set it in 1985 I will be super impressed.  If the only political part of it is that "with superheroes, the US won the Vietnam War" and just build off that, I will be even MORE impressed.  Please, if you want to make a Super Big Political Statement, then make a Super Big Political Movie.  Leave my graphic novels out of it.
