I've finished Avatar s3 and OMG SHOW. A little piece of me died of the awesome. *flails*
Zuko finally joining Team Avatar! Loved! His awkwardness when he was practising? *hearts* This kid. Then everybody having a Life Changing Journey with him (expect Toph, who then totally stole him later. *g*) and there was guy-bonding with Sokka ("My first girlfriend turned into the moon." "That's rough, buddy." LMAO) and Aang, but then him and Katara got to be badass and ninja together and it was AWESOME. I love these two.
There were some really good character episodes. Really all the episodes are character based, but this season had some especially memorable ones. "The Puppetmaster" for Katara, which *shivers* and the end was wonderfully played. Then "Sokka's Master" that I've already mentioned in a previous post. Zuko's overall arch was done really, really well. Toph continued to be awesome and I loved how excited she got in "The Ember Island Players" about well, everything! (One of the best meta episodes EVER. *snickers in remembrance*) Suki and Sokka continue to be cute together. Suki is so adorably tolerant of her wacky boyfriend, and Sokka is in awe of his awesome, kickass girlfriend. "The Boiling Rock" anyone?
Seriously, the story telling the whole season was just tight and done well. Then the finale came:
It was amazing. There's wasn't any sort of big reveal but in general oh so satisfying. The fights were just GUH-awesome, and as great as Aang vs. Ozai was, my favourite was Azula vs. Zuko and Katara, to which, Katara just OWNS. Oh and Sokka, Toph, and Suki taking down the airships. *loves* Seriously the fight sequences were just done wonderfully.
All the story lines were wrapped up nicely, too. Aang not killing the Fire Lord was expected, as it is a kid's show, but taking away the bending was a nice (and very cool) way to handle it. Azula's end was rather sad to see, she was evil, and awesome. The vision of her mother and those cries when she realised she was beat? Painful. Mai and Ty Lee's betrayal clearly broke something in her. Speaking of the other ladies: Ty Lee bonding with the Kyoshi warriors in jail? LOL, brilliant. And Mai? I do kinda love her, she and Zuko are cute when they're together, even if I do kinda totally ship him with Katara too. *waves multishipper flag*
I loved the Secret Society of Old People that kick ass. I loved more that one day Sokka will be one of these guys.
Zuko becoming Fire Lord as not a surprise at all. I'll also admit I had a moment of BFFery yayness at the hug between him and Aang! The full circle and parallels between them, Roku and Sozin, were really nice. But, and this is my only but, what happened to Zuko's mother? *flail*
The end at the tea shop was adorable with the teamy goodness and bffery and Iroh.
Final consensus: This show is never leaving my comp because I will always want to re-watch it and relive the awesomeness of it all the time. Mucho amor.
