Our first mini snow storm began today. Luckily I was indoors happily writing... but what a sight! I quickly dashed off a poem for how much it's worth.
Snow Music
I can show You
the way under
A blanket of snow
That sticks to my knees
And grows in the cold
Too much is precious along
Elbow cries of fastidiousness
Pulling up boots and wagging dog tails
Under crimson scarves and naked knees
I can hardly tell the difference
And if anything, I've just been congratulated by my little son who keeps telling me: 'good job.' I'm taking this literally :) ever since embarking on this major book project. Every bit of progress counts.
On a more random note, I've decided that a lack of interaction due to the writing life I've carved since settling in Pittsburgh calls for a schedule. So I am going to strive for a variety of online and offline activities just to keep my endorphines happy and fewer trips to the refrigerator. (I'm beginning to feel like Frosty the Snowman) This means I'll go to the pool at the JCC when the lanes are much quieter, have lunch with hubby tomorrow (day off), go to the library just to be surrounded by people and light the first candle of our first Chanukah in Squirrel Hill... tomorrow!
Tomorrow's a new day.. with no mistakes in it. (Anne Shirley)
chanukah,
